The Walk of the Woman in the Garden
Arcylic on Canvas 40cm x 30cm. This piece is called 'The Walk of the Woman in the Garden' and is in reference to Mary Magdalene's experience in the garden on resurrection Sunday, John 20.
It will be exhibited at Cession's Stations of the Cross 2009 as part of a community art piece that will go to make up Station 12. This piece is not available for sale.
This is an unusual work for Halia as she was given a source of inspiration - John 20, and a colour palate. The green background had already been painted by the community art co-ordination.
The white swirl (made using Jo Sonja's pearl white velvet matte finish) was in keeping with Halia's style and depicts the path Mary takes. As she reaches the cave where the stone had been rolled away, Mary is momentarily confused and scared hence the walking in circles, before Jesus reveals himself to her and she departs to rush off to tell the other disciples.
