About Halia
Hi, I'm Halia and this is my beautiful kitty Digby. I'm a self taught New Zealand Artist, with no formal qualifications or training. My Art is born out of the urge to be creative, which becomes so overwhelming that I have no other option but to give in. In these moments of sometimes near insanity my paint brush is autonomous, and I hardly ever know how it will all end.
Rarely do I attempt commissioned pieces because I cannot determine a head of time either the content or quality of the final piece. However, if you want to chat about commissioned piece I am always open to the possibility.
If you would like to know more about the art exhibited on these pages, or would like to purchase any of the pieces and want to enquire about viewing or price, please use the message me facility, thanks.

Halia's oil paint art has been put away indefinitely: the trials of a minuscule unit and a baby girl were just too much to consider getting it all out and having to put it all away every 2 hours. When Halia finally moves into a real studio (rather than the shelf come studio) the oil will flow.

If you pop along to the Tux Factory you'll be able to find Union Tux. He was designed by:
Author : pinguinalulu (Browse Tux)
License : Creative Commons BY-NC-SA
What I really wanted was a Tardis Tux, so using a facebook superpoke image I created a hybrid. I'm not sure who designed the superpoke Tardis image, if you know let me know, I want to credit them. This isn't a piece of Art that is for sale sadly. It's just to enjoy (...probably only if you are a Linux junky).
I promise Daisy Smith tee pee coming soon.

Halia's other works in progress have temporarily been packed away as she has no room for them to be out with her new wee addition - they were proving to be a hazard. Halia is hoping that in the middle of year she'll be able to move her art to a new studio (rather than her living room).

After 8 months of being overwhelmed with morning sickness, Halia was relieved that in the awkwardness of the final month she was free from nausea. She managed to borrow a sewing machine and a new passion for fabric art was birthed. More details of Halia's fabric creations are coming soon.

Halia has also been working on a piece entitled "Fear." At the moment it is in the concept stage. Fear means different things to different people. Most recently fear to Halia has meant "spotting" an event which can signal several things when someone is pregnant. For Halia is recently meant miscarriage. In a bid to exercise the memories of this event Halia decided to create a piece that objectified it in a bid to over come her fear. To take a sneak peak visit Work in Progress II.

The above recreation shows that anyone can be an artist. This was Halia's functional stovetop peculator that her husband choose in a moment of forgetfulness to redesign, they now display it as a piece of modern art. It has become quite a talking point and usually leads to their new stovetop finding its way onto the stove.
